It all started a few years ago, when prof. N. Țăpus coordinated several bachelor/dissertation thesis on quantum topics that were successfully defended within the Computer Science and Engineering Department of the University Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB).

Then, more advanced discussions took place between prof. N. Țăpuș, as the head of the department and his former student, prof. P.G. Popescu, on quantum topics and how they can be integrated into our department.

Beginning of 2015, a small group of people led by prof. P.G. Popescu and under the mentorship of prof. N. Țăpuș began laying the foundation of quantum computing and quantum information in the CS Department.
